About this site

I created this website to serve as a stationary-point for locating information about my life and work. The name of my journal, "Solid Black Square" is an ode to the Halmos Tombstone, a symbol classically used to denote the end of a proof.

As for the design, I built these website to demonstrate how simplicity can still lead to elegant and functional user interface. If you have problems viewing this site, please let me know. I aim to meet all standards and write valid code, viewable on nearly all browsers which support web standards. See the section called Web Standards by John Gruber for a more explicit point of view on this.

The graphic on the main page was created using Wordle.

Server Information

Both my personal webpage and Solid Black Square are hosted by A2 Hosting. Solid Black Square including all entries, archives and comments is managed by Movable Type. Optimize This utilizes tumblr for its blog engine. The reason for this is that OT entries will be short, often emailed from my iPhone and containing multimedia, which is exactly the environment where tumblr excels.
